Add Music to Your XOGO Screens with Cloud Cover

Stream Cloud Cover music feeds along with your XOGO digital signage content.

Add Music to Your Digital Signage!

Introduction

XOGO digital signage allows you to put images, videos, dashboards or even automated news and social feeds on your screens. Digital signage content tends to be silent, unless you have videos in your playlist that contain an audio track (which can become annoying if you have the playlist on rotation all day long). What if you want to have professional in-store music playing on your screens along with your digital signage content? That's where Cloud Cover comes in.

What is Cloud Cover?

If you want to play licensed, ad-free music in your business, Cloud Cover is the way to go. In just seconds you can set up a free account and browse over 200 stations based upon musical genres, moods or even business types. The neat thing about Cloud Cover is that your music stations can be delivered as URLs, meaning that they can be played in a web browser or added to XOGO so they will play in the background while your normal playlist content is shown on-screen!

Who is it for?

Cloud Cover is an ideal solution for any business that wants to play fully licensed, ad-free music on its digital signage screens. Just set up your account and load its URL into XOGO so it can be applied to one or more of your digital signage players. Log into Cloud Cover anytime in order to change your music and it will instantly update on your signage players.

How to set up Cloud Cover

Visit Cloud Cover's website to set up a free 14-day trial. You can then browse over 200 music stations, or even schedule different stations to play on different days and times. Preview the stations in your web browser. When you're ready to add your station to XOGO, toggle the button at the bottom of the screen to "remote". Then click "account" in the top left, and copy the "auto login" link to your desktop.

Click on account in order to get your Cloud Cover URL, which can be pasted into a XOGO overlay.

How to add Cloud Cover to XOGO

Once you have your Cloud Cover link, it's time to add it to XOGO. Log into your XOGO Manager account and navigate to overlays, then click +NEW in the upper right to create a new content overlay. Now click on +ADD WEB SURFACE and in the resulting pop-up box, paste in your Cloud Cover URL. We suggest setting the top and left margins to zero, and the height and width to 1, so the Cloud Cover URL will pull through your audio but not appear on screen. Leave the refresh internal set to zero. Now you can give your overlay a name (i.e. "Cloud Cover Feed") and click save.

Now that you have an audio overlay set up, we need to apply it to one or more of your digital signage players. Click on any of your players in XOGO Manager and select your overlay to play on the device, along with your chosen playlist, then click save. Important: make sure that all of the content in your playlist has "show overlay" turned on. When you reboot your player it will immediately begin streaming your Cloud Cover playlist along with your (visual) digital signage content.

Create an overlay in XOGO Manager, paste in your Cloud Cover URL, and set the height/width to 1 pixel so it will be invisible.

Make sure that all content items in your playlist have “show overlay” turned ON so the overlay will play.

Summary

Let your digital signage players do double-duty by streaming audio in addition to displaying your images, graphics and URLs. Cloud Cover is the perfect solution for any business that wants to set an audiovisual mood for its customers. Imagine displaying your restaurant menus and playing music from the same device, or showing ads in your retail store and playing upbeat music from the same screen.
