XOGO Mini 2b Firmware Upgrade
XOGO Mini 2b Firmware Upgrade
We recently (October 2022) released a major firmware upgrade for the XOGO Mini 2* that includes a number of performance improvements and feature enhancements. Essentially this new firmware transforms any existing XOGO Mini 2 into a XOGO Mini 2b. It includes the following enhancements:
Improved video playback performance
Improved URL playback performance
Improved WiFi setup experience
Support for streaming audio i.e. CloudCover
Support for content transitions i.e. fade in/out
This firmware upgrade is available for all XOGO Mini 2 media players and comes in the form of a pre-imaged microSD card**. Although it’s not required to continue using XOGO, we encourage Mini 2 users to take advantage of the performance enhancements in this new version. Doing so also allows you to receive any future minor-point updates, which are delivered to your player automatically via the cloud.
In order to upgrade your Mini 2 player, simply delete the device inside the XOGO Manager app and then unplug it from power. Wait a few seconds, then replace the existing microSD card inside the device with this one. Now you can power the device back on, connect it to ethernet or WiFi, and then connect the player to your XOGO Manager account via the PIN code displayed on-screen. See our Getting Started page for illustrated instructions.

*If you’re unsure which Mini player you currently have, the Mini 2 has a black plastic outer case, and displays a horizontal “loading” bar during startup. It’s physically the same as the Mini 2b currently sold on our website, but has older firmware.
**If you are reasonably tech-savvy and would prefer to re-image your Mini 2’s existing microSD card, you can delete your player in XOGO Manager and then follow these instructions to download and apply our latest Mini 2b (RPi4) firmware to the microSD card.
