Incorporating QR Codes into XOGO Digital Signage
Introduction
QR codes and digital signage are both advanced tools for on-premise marketing. To maximize their benefits, consider combining the two technologies by incorporating QR codes right into your digital signage content.
Printed QR codes have been popular within many different industries in recent years. They act as a bridge between the physical world and digital content, such as when you scan a restaurant menu to pull up a digital version on your smart phone. QR codes used in digital format add further flexibility, as they can be updated at any time in order to point to different information online.
Popular uses for QR Codes
Incorporating QR codes into XOGO digital signage adds an interactive element to your content, without added costs or sanitary concerns of a touchscreen display or printed materials. QR codes can be incorporated into your image, video or URL content, in order to link your audience to a website, social media page, an online menu, a feedback form, or to offer a downloadable coupon. The opportunities are endless!
Adding QR codes to your digital signs boosts engagement with your customers. Other popular use cases include directing restaurant patrons to a digital menu on their phone or sending retail customers in a store to online product details. Along with boosting customer engagement, digital signage QR codes are also a great way to track engagement. Because you can view anaylitycs reports on how many people scanned your QR codes, and the webpages that they visited afterwards, QR codes offer a quantifiable way of measuring marketing ROI.
How to Create QR Codes
Generating a QR code is simple. Using an online QR generator like Bitly, users enter their destination URL, choose from various color / design options, and a QR code is generated which, when scanned by a mobile device, will point visitors to the destination URL. The QR code can be copied and pasted into one’s digital signage content, for playback on screens at various points in the customer journey.
How to Deploy Your QR codes in XOGO
Once you’ve generated your QR code(s), they can be added to your image, video or even URL content. Just open your favorite content editing tool, (i.e. Illustrator, PowerPoint, Canva or PosterMyWall) and paste your QR code directly into the design. Then upload your content to the library section of XOGO Manager and it’s ready to be added to a playlist.
Want your QR code to be instantly visible across all of your content? That’s where our overlay feature comes in handy. Simply create a transparent 1920 x 1080 canvas (be sure to match your target display’s resolution) using your favorite design software, and place your QR code in the location of your choosing, like in the example below. Save the design as a PNG file and in XOGO Manager, upload the image as an overlay. Then click on your player(s) in XOGO Manager and select the option to show this overlay. Now the QR code will appear on top of all of the content that the player is playing.
Summary
Adding QR codes to your digital signage content is a quick and effective way to make your signage interactive, provide additional information / value to customers, and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
